Three people were injured Wednesday afternoon when a small plane crashed during an attempted landing at Sonoma Valley Airport, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.
The single-engine aircraft came to rest against a levee at the airport, authorities said. The plane was carrying a pilot and two passengers, all of whom were injured. Two people were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Officials did not immediately provide details about the severity of the injuries.
Sheriff’s deputies, Schellville Fire Department crews and Sonoma Valley Fire District personnel responded to the crash at 4:19 p.m. on May 27, according to the report.
The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating what caused the crash, the Sheriff’s Office said.
