Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety officers arrested a 45-year-old Rohnert Park resident Aug. 11 on suspicion of possessing child sexual abuse material, according to the department.
The investigation began in February, when the department received a cyber-tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children through the Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Detectives later identified what the department described as a primary suspect and served multiple search warrants on electronic service providers connected to the investigation.
A Ramey warrant for the suspect’s arrest and a search warrant for the person’s residence were issued Aug. 10, the department said. Detectives and patrol officers served the residential warrant the following day and made the arrest.
The person was booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility on suspicion of violating California Penal Code section 311.11(a)(1), which concerns possession of child sexual abuse material. Bail was set at $75,000.
The department said the person’s identity would not be released at this time to protect the privacy of others involved in the investigation. An arrest and criminal charge are allegations, and the case remains subject to court proceedings.
